Helena Food Share is a participating distribution site for the USDA Farmers to Families Food Box Program. This program is directing food purchased from U.S. farmers to food banks support and through nonprofit organizations for distribution to people needing food. The first shipment will arrive Tuesday, May 26th and the program is slated to continue every week for six months. We are reaching out to community organizations to make you aware of this program and invite your participation in getting food to those in our community who need it. We need the help of the entire community to ensure this food goes to the best use in our community.
The first product on Tuesday, May 26th is a 25-pound Produce Box. See the attached flyer for contents. We will distribute to organizations from 2:00 pm to 6 pm at our warehouse at 1403 N Oakes St. Note: this is currently a tentative time; we will send a follow-up confirmation on Tuesday morning, May 26th. Also note that distribution to individual households will take place at our 1616 Lewis Street Pantry.
This program is open to all. There are no eligibility requirements or limits, and no application is needed. If your organization can help by serving anyone in the community who needs the support, please reply to CFAPboxes@helenafoodshare.org with the details below.
